I never thought my first kiss would be on my wedding day.

But here I stand, clutching a bouquet of pale pink roses behind the doors of a Las Vegas chapel, and at the end of the aisle is the absolute last man I imagined would be waiting for me.

Thomas Bane.
Bestselling author. Notorious bad boy. Savagely handsome, dark as sin, chiseled as stone. And somehow, my soon-to-be husband.

Marry him, and I’ll land my dream job. Save him, and I’ll walk away with everything I’ve ever wanted. All I have to do is remember it’s all for show. None of it is real, no matter how real it feels.

But first, I have to survive the kiss.
And with lips like his, my heart doesn’t stand a chance.

5 Star Review by Ashley

First things first, red lipstick on. I'm standing and doing the slow clap with the head nod because Staci Hart has done it again. This installment of the Red Lipstick Collation is everything I want in a romance.

Wit.
Awkwardness.
Charm.
Humor.
Two (or more) people to love.
Someone to dislike.
Anticipation.
Heat.
Conflict.
Heart.

But back to the start...Amelia. I loved her sweetness. Her shyness. Her kindness. Her innocence. Her good heart. How she was a total book nerd. How despite the rumors and speculation, she saw something good in Thomas when they first met.

Even though Thomas was a bit of a mess, I couldn't help but like him. Dedicated. Fiercely loyal. Creative. Protective. Yes, his life had spiraled a bit out of control but with the help of his trusty best friend, and brother, he concocted a foolproof plan. Not part of the plan...falling for his wife. He couldn't help it, though, Amelia made everything better. From his craft to his happiness, when she was around, he soared.

Not part of the plan. Amelia's boss hidden intentions. It put Amelia in a terrible position. She had a big choice to make which in reality, wasn't much of a choice at all. But the fallout left everyone reeling.

From start to finish, even when my heart was breaking for both of them, Work in Progress had me grinning. Staci Hart delivered a story that was so much more than two lonely hearts falling in love for the first time. It was doing what's right even when it's hard. Even when it means swallowing your pride. Even when it hurts. It was family and sacrifice and friendship and love. Gah! That ending!! I am beyond ready for the next, and sadly, final book in the RLC series.

About the Author

Picture
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
